ABOUT
US

At Joseph Matthew Tree Conservancy Farm, also known as Joma Tree Conservancy Farm we are passionately dedicated to tree conservation and fostering a greener and healthier environment through our collaboration with like-minded organizations and individuals who share our passion for tree conservation. Trees are our friends, and we believe that incorporating sandalwood into farming practices not only enhances environmental sustainability but also provides economic benefits for farmers.

Our mission is to collaborate closely with local farmers in Kenya to promote the domestication of endangered tree species, particularly the sandalwood tree and other indigenous trees.Recognized as an endangered species, the sandalwood tree is under strict protection by the Government of Kenya, which is committed to preventing its illegal harvesting from national forests.

We encourage farmers to cultivate sandalwood alongside other crops, promoting sustainable agricultural practices that help conserve this precious tree from extinction. By integrating sandalwood with fruit trees, such as pomegranate—which thrives as a host—we aim to create a harmonious ecosystem that benefits both the environment and local communities

We are committed to educating farmers on the importance of integrating sandalwood into their agricultural practices. By embracing the philosophy of “cut one tree, plant two,” we aim to promote responsible tree management and conservation efforts. Our partnership with the **Kenya Forestry Research Institute (KEFRI) and other international allies provide us with the resources and support needed to achieve our goals.

Empowering Communities

At Joma, our primary goal is to foster self-employment and economic growth among youth and women in our communities. We provide free seedlings to farmers, alongside continuous support and education on the importance of intercropping and sustainable farming methods. Our dedicated team ensures that these trees are well cared for, and we reward responsible farmers by doubling their seedlings each year for those who demonstrate excellent stewardship.

Our Ambitious
Goal

Our target is to plant 10 million trees over the next five years. Tree farming, especially sandalwood cultivation, is not only environmentally beneficial but also highly profitable. Farmers who join our initiative have witnessed positive results and take pride in their contributions to conservation efforts.

Collaboration and Support

We are proud to partner with the **Kenya Forestry Research Institute (KEFRI)**, which provides us with initial seedlings and essential training for our staff. Their support empowers us to stay focused on our conservation goals. Additionally, we collaborate with various international organizations that share our vision for a sustainable future.

Our Commitment to the Environment

Trees play a vital role in maintaining a clean environment, and we are committed to preserving our natural resources for future generations. We supply our seedlings at discounted prices to like-minded organizations, while farmers benefit from our policy of “plant one, get one more” the following year. Our offerings include indigenous trees, sandalwood, and fruit trees, all aimed at enhancing biodiversity and encouraging sustainable practices.

Support and Resources

We are here to assist anyone interested in tree farming. Our team provides free education on tree care, from seedling to maturity, and offers guidance on best practices for successful farming. Whenever challenges arise, KEFRI is our steadfast partner, providing support and resources to ensure we stay on the right path.

Join Us in Making a Difference

We welcome all who are interested in joining our journey toward a greener future. By working together, we can achieve greater volumes for the wider market, supported by the Kenyan government’s initiatives through KEFRI. Our vision is to create a brighter tomorrow for our environment and communities.
